LinkedIn for tech jobs: what to change today to get found
Tech recruiters search LinkedIn with very specific terms. Small profile changes can boost your appearances in minutes.

LinkedIn is a search engine
Recruiters filter by keywords in headline, About, and experience. Optimize those three first.
Headline
Do not use just "Developer". Use: "Backend Engineer | Node.js, AWS, PostgreSQL | Scalable APIs".
About section
Three short paragraphs:
- What you do and for how long.
- Technologies and project types.
- What you are looking for now.
Experience
- 3 to 5 bullets per role, past-tense verbs, with numbers.
- Include the stack as tags in parentheses.
Open to work, but private
Enable it for recruiters only. Public banner can reduce perceived value.
Recommendations
Ask for 2 new recommendations every quarter. Short, specific, with outcomes.
How to measure
Check "search appearances" weekly. If it grows, you are on the right track.
